It's always wonderful to breathe in the crisp mountain air while gazing off into the distance, but after about 10 minutes, you'll be looking for something to do.
When going camping with friends or family, it's a good idea to prepare a few activities, and I have listed here some of the activities I am doing while camping.
Stargazing
Nothing is easier than relaxing and taking in the glories of the night sky in silence. To improve your experience, consider installing a stargazing app to your phone beforehand.
Campfire Cooking
If you look back to your favourite camping experiences, chances are that one of them included cooking over a campfire.
Hot dogs, and marshmallows are easy to make, tin foil feasts are more elaborate. A dutch oven makes it simple to prepare delectable meals while you are taking part in other camping activities, whether you are simmering something great all day or whipping up a killer peach cobbler after supper.
Interested in barbecue? Bring a campfire grate so you can cook vegetables, poultry, and hamburgers over the flames. For dessert, wrap a broomstick in bread dough, roast it over the fire, and then top it with your preferred fruit toppings and a sprinkle of sugar.
Campfire Stories
Turn your camping experience into a mystery with some ghost stories, tales of adventure, or humorous anecdotes around the campfire. I like to use some background sounds on a bluetooth speaker to enhance the experience .
You can also download an audiobook or podcast to listen to while hanging out with your pals for a contemporary take on campfire tales.
Campfire Songs
Bring your six-string guitar and perform a few songs while everyone is roasting marshmallows around the fire if you're fortunate enough to have a fellow camper who plays the guitar well. It doesn't matter if your friends sound like a pack of howling hounds at the moon to still find this pastime entertaining; you don't have to be a potential British Got Talent contestant.
Hammock Hanging
Whether your idea of relaxing calls for a good book or a nap, adding a hammock to the mix will certainly upgrade your lazy afternoon.
Even better, ditch the tent and spend the night in a camping hammock for the best backcountry bed you’ve ever experienced.
Photography
Nature photography is more of a solo-activity, so don’t expect your friends to be very enthusiastic about following you around while you silently snap pictures with your DSLR. It’s best if your fellow campers can bring their own cameras, and even better if you plan your camping trip around scenic locations where you can do a photo tour.
When you’re ready to upgrade your nature photography game, get a drone. There are a few hoops you’ll need to jump through to register and you’ll always need to be mindful of local laws and restrictions, but in the end it’s totally worth it for those epic panoramic shots from several hundred feet in the air.
